Alan Gasmer è produttore esecutivo della pluripremiata serie Vikings per History Channel, giunto alla sesta stagione. In qualità di partner della società Alan Gasmer & Friends e della neonata Veritas Entertainment Group, è stato produttore esecutivo di You Me Her, la commedia di DirecTV che entra ora nella sua terza stagione, Fahrenheit 451 ed Elvis: The Searcher per HBO, oltre a Dublin Murders di Tana French, attualmente in produzione per Starz / BBC.
Il settore produzione della società ha molti progetti in fase di sviluppo per emittenti tv, via cavo e canali digitali, come pure per il teatro. Tra questi, The Martian Chronicles di Ray Bradbury, The Distributor per la regia di Allen Coulter, The Curiosity e The Mosquito Coast in sviluppo ad Apple, e la Untitled Billy Gardell Show per Netflix, oltre a molti altri progetti attualmente in varie fasi di produzione. Sta anche producendo il remake di Cannonball Run insieme a Warner Brothers per la regia di Doug Liman, con Jeff Bridges nel ruolo di Barnes e Morgan Freeman in quello di Brilliant, oltre a The Honeymooner al Paper Mill Theater. Nel 2017, ha fondato una joint venture con un agente letterario della CAA e Paradigm, Bob Bookman e con Peter Jaysen – la Veritas Entertainment Group – per adattare in progetti cinematografici e televisivi i diritti letterari della lunga lista di clienti di Bookman, che comprendeva John Irving e Michael Crichton.
Attualmente, la società rappresenta molti noti scrittori cinematografici e televisivi e rappresenta diversi archivi letterari. Prima di fondare la società, è stato un apprezzato agente cinematografico per la William Morris ed è stato descritto da Vanity Fair come “the King of Specs” (il re delle sceneggiature originali di esordienti) per aver contribuito alla creazione e alla fornitura sul mercato di sceneggiature di esordienti. Come tale, è responsabile della realizzazione di molti film, tra cui Rush Hour, Soul Food, Cowboys & Aliens, Mousehunt e Empire Records. Nei suoi 24 anni presso la celebre William Morris, ha cominciato smistando la posta fino a raggiungere la direzione della Divisione del Motion Picture Literary, dove rappresentava scrittori e registi di importanti film e musical di Broadway, tra cui Jersey Boys e The Addams Family.
Membro rispettato della comunità di Hollywood, è conosciuto come un uomo di parola – e di grande gusto letterario. È membro della AMPAS (Motion Picture Academy), BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television), HRTS (Hollywood Radio and Television Society) e partecipa al Banff World Media Festival. Ama l’hockey sul ghiaccio ed il rock classico. Nato a Philadelphia, risiede a Los Angeles, dove tifa per The Kings, eccetto quando giocano contro The Flyers.

Alan Gasmer is an Executive Producer of the award-winning History Channel series Vikings, now in its fifth season. As a principal in the entertainment management company Alan Gasmer & Friends and the newly formed Veritas Entertainment Group, Gasmer executive produces You Me Her, the DirecTV comedy that’s going into its third season. He currently has Fahrenheit 451 shooting for HBO and Crash & Burn shooting for Hulu.

His company’s production arm has many projects in development at broadcast, cable, and digital networks and also for the stage.  Among them are Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles, Tana French’s Dublin Murder Squad at TNT and BBC, The Distributor with Allen Coulter directing, and Elvis, a four hour documentary at HBO in addition to many other projects setup in various stages. Alan is also producing the feature remake of Cannonball Run at Warner Brothers, Barnes starring Jeff Bridges, and Brilliant with Morgan Freeman as well The Honeymooner’s at the Paper mill Theater. In 2017, former CAA and Paradigm literary agent, Bob Bookman formed a joint venture with Gasmer and Peter Jaysen called Veritas Entertainment Group to adapt intellectual properties from his long list of clients including John Irving and Michael Crichton into film and television projects. Together, the three of them recently sold Hotel Honolulu based off the well-known book by Paul Theroux to Fox as well as The Mosquito Coast to Fremantle and All the Shah’s Men to Amazon.

In addition, his company represents many well-known television and motion picture writers and represents several libraries of intellectual property.

Before opening his own firm, Gasmer was a highly regarded William Morris film agent, described in Vanity Fair as “the King of Specs” for his part in creating and supplying the spec screenplay marketplace.
