President – ROMA LAZIO FILM COMMISSION
Luciano Sovena, President of Roma Lazio Film Commission is a lawyer specialized in Media, Communication and Copyright Law.
From 2003 to 2011 he served as CEO of Luce Spa Institute – which became Cinecittà Luce Spa – participating in such capacity to the production and distribution of numerous films including Michael Radford’s “The Merchant of Venice” starring Al Pacino and “2046” directed by Wong Kar Wai. He also discovered and supported new Italian talents and debut works such as Saverio Costanzo’s “Private” (Winner of Locarno Film Festival), Alice Rohrwacher’s “Celestial Body” (presented at Cannes and winner of the Silver Ribbon), and Michelangelo Frammartino’s “Le quattro volte” (winner of the Quinzaine des Realisateurs at the Cannes Film Festival).
As president of the Roma Lazio Film Commission, he concentrates his efforts on encouraging International companies to invest in Italy as well as furthering the promotion of co-production agreements between Italy and foreign countries.
In Morocco, he founded the first Euro-Mediterranean Cinematography Center, which contains the School of Cinema Arts and Crafts, and in Argentina he was the promoter of the development agreement in favor of Italian-Argentine co-productions.
He is Professor of Theories and Techniques for Production of Cinema and Television Series, at the University of Suor Orsola Benincasa in Naples.
He is an expert in regulations aimed at the financial relationship between film production and distribution.
