Andrea Occhipinti is the founder of Lucky Red. Since 1987 he has distributed over 400 titles and produced over 30 films, some of the best in international independent production, introducing Italian audience to directors from all over the world, many of whom are now considered “auteurs”: Paolo Sorrentino, Alejandro Amenabar, Lars Von Trier, Wong Kar Way, Michael Haneke, François Ozon, Hayao Miyazaki, Agnes Jaoui, Jean Pierre and Luc Dardenne.
This distinctive feature of Lucky Red has helped the company build long-lasting relationships with producers and directors throughout the world. Examples of such successes include Shine, Le Goût des Autres, The Others, The Magdalene Sisters, March of the Penguins, Slumdog Millionaire, Des Hommes et des Deux, El Secreto de Sus Ojos, Il Divo, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska, Philomena, La Vie d’Adele, The Little Prince and more recently Moonlight.
