Discovery Italia, part of Discovery Networks International group, is the media company which attracts an ever-widening audience thanks to the variety of entertainment it offers, all highly original in content and language. Over the last few years this evolution in product variety has gone hand-in-hand with significant growth and has led to Italy becoming one of the largest markets for Discovery Communications, to the extent that Milan is now the headquarters of the Southern Europe region of Discovery Networks International, which includes Italy, Spain, Portugal and France.
Thanks to the courage to aim high, and the desire to research and produce innovative content, Discovery Italia has been able to create a unique and integrated ecosystem, building vigorous multi-platform brands and keeping up with the changing country.
Discovery Italia represents a social destination for a dynamic audience, for talents wanting to experience something new and for partners looking for a relevant and innovative media.
Today, Discovery Italia’s offering consists of a portfolio of 14 multi-platform channels: 7 free -to-air channels (Real Time, DMAX, NOVE, Giallo, Focus, K2 and Frisbee) and 7 pay channels (Discovery Channel, Discovery Science, Discovery Travel & Living, Animal Planet, ID – Investigation Discovery, Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2). In addition, it includes the free OTT service, Dplay, and the pay-OTT service, Eurosport Player.
In January 2015, Discovery announced the acquisition of Deejay Tv – then renamed Nove – from the Espresso group. The operation marked its debut in the general-interest TV sector.
