Director of Original Productions – Sky Italia
Nils Hartmann was born in Hannover in 1967. He grew up in Milan, and lived in Rome, London and Cairo. He has been working in the television production business for 28 years. He started as Promo Producer for Orbit Network Rome. Then, as Creative Director, he launched the cinema channel for Studio Universal. In 2003, he launched SKY ITALIA as Creative Director. In Sky he then became Director of Original Productions, supervising scripted and entertainment productions. He produced TV series that gained international fame, such as: Romanzo Criminale and
Gomorra, distributed in over 150 countries.
Among his most recent productions, The Young Pope with Oscar-winner director Paolo Sorrentino and Il Miracolo directed and created by best-selling writer Niccolò Ammaniti.
Currently, he is in production with ZeroZeroZero, by showrunner and director of Gomorra, Stefano Sollima; Diavoli, directed by English director Nick Hurran starring Patrick Dempsey, in addition to the new seasons of 1994 and Gomorra 4. He counts over 35 projects in development, including the second season of The New Pope with Jude Law and John Malkovich.
He is also Executive Producer of X Factor, Masterchef Italia and Italia’s Got Talent.
