Company profile: RTS, Radio Télévision Suisse is the french speaking channel of the swiss public broadcaster. Through RTS1, RTS2 and rts.ch it is the leading channel on it’s territory. Very active in the field of self production, RTS is also a partner for the independant producers and directors in the country and elsewhere. The Audience share in percent are 33.5 for RTS1 and 7.8 for RTS2, in prime time.
Job Description: Composed of 3 commissioning editors (Gaspard Lamunière – Frédéric Pfyffer and Phlippe Zibung) this documentaries unit manages the programming of all the 250 documentaries, the choice and the follow-up of the coproductions with the Swiss producers, the possible exchanges of minority-majority coproductions with the foreign countries, the pre-buys, the acquisitions and the coproductions with Arte G.E.I.E. Irène Challand attended many festivals where she was also jury member at several occasions. RTS’s dedicated slots have had good successes when broadcasted, but also as theatrical releases and on Internet (www.lesdocs.ch).
Strand Profile: investigative journalism, current affairs, human interest, geopolitical topics
Themes: we basically hunt for films on big social and human issues, which are prime-time on RTS2. We broadcasts 52’ or feature length, but need strong programs for all our slots. Since many years, our monthly slot called “Le doc Visions du reel” shows a selection of the best documentaries of the previous edition of the festival.
Main activities: acquisitions, pre-buys. For coproductions a minority or majority participation of a swiss producer is necessary.
